The Wearable Art Collection
Beth's unique felted garments and distinctive accessories are created with fine merino wool and the likes of hand dyed and hand painted silk fabric, upcycled textiles, plant and protein fibers, kozo paper and more. Wool is laid down in thin, even layers, sometimes on its own and sometimes combined with silk or other fabric, then wet down and worked. There is no sewing involved, the pieces are strictly held together by the affinity of the wool fibers as they migrate through the fabric and entangle creating the incredible textures. Garments are built to drape and move with the body. Hats, handbags, and some scarves hold their own structure — sculptural, dimensional, tactile. Each one-of-a-kind piece features rich color blends and complex surface textures, serving as a striking statement for a creative wardrobe.
Over the past two decades, Beth has created hundreds (if not thousands) of pieces of wearable art and still finds it a fascinating process.
